Job Description:

The Java Developer acts as the subject matter expert for business software developed in-house or purchased. Interacts closely with business users to accurately define business rules. Independently designs, develops, and maintains business solutions in Java based technologies.

Duties of the Java Developer:

• Work jointly with other analyst to give guidance on system software and hardware for any enhancements and project initiatives.

• Participate in the development of business requirements, lead and influence system design sessions and participate in the development of a software solution.

• Create and maintain documentation of all business system capabilities and processes.

• Develop enhancement and maintenance solutions for existing Java based applications.

• Develop and execute unit, integration, and system software test solutions.

• Work jointly with database analyst to assure data relationships are established according to business rules and policy.

• Works jointly with Systems Engineers to develop hardware and network infrastructure capable of supporting project solutions and considers administrative and support in design.

• Participates in a cyclical support solution for operational issues reported by a help desk team.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications of the Java Developer:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field of study.

• At least 3-5 years of experience working in analysis, design, and development of software solutions.

• Exhibits strong technical software related problem solving and analytical skills. Demonstrable technical documentation skills to communicate design exercises and decisions are required.

• Experience in the 'customer care for telecommunications industry' problem space is a plus.

• At least 3 - 5 years of experience with Java web-based solution development. In addition, HTML, CSS, XML, JSON and JavaScript are necessary.

• Demonstrable knowledge of relational databases and SQL. Specific experience with MS SQL Server will be strongly considered and experience with DB2 a plus.

• Must have demonstrable experience in Java and the Spring framework. Understand its concepts and design patterns.

• Should have knowledge of SOA including web services (SOAP, REST) also concepts with messaging and integration patterns such as Camel and/or Spring integration. Familiarity with SmartBear's SoapUI is considered valuable.

• Exposure to application servers such as Tomcat, WebLogic or WebSphere and use of Eclipse based-IDE is a plus.

• Experience with ORM technology such as Hibernate a bonus.

• Familiarity with continuous integration environments such as Hudson.

• Familiarity with structured, software development methodology such as RUP is important.

• Working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio.

The Java Developer position is a contract-to-hire opportunity with one of our clients in Rock Hill, SC. The position is focused more on the backend so need to be strong in Web Services.  Would like some understanding of the front end, but those skills are less important than the backend one.  Will be working directly with business partners, which requires strong communication skills.  

Contract term is 3 - 6 months, with salary upon conversion expected to be up to $85,000 (with a comparable hourly rate during the contract portion). No sponsorship or 3rd party agreements available.
